The Mermaid Sisters Story
How it started
Early 2017, sisters Lara and Lisa saw a mermaid tail for the first time on YouTube. They were immediately sold. After some searching, they found one on a Chinese website. Mom and Dad helped and within five minutes the order was placed. Then the waiting began…
The first tails
After five weeks, the time had finally come: the postman was at the door with a package from China. The package was enthusiastically unpacked and the mermaid tails appeared. The fun was short-lived when it turned out that one of the tails was not the right size. What now?
After a few days, there was a response by email from China. We could exchange the tail for the right size without any problems, but we had to send the wrong tail back to China first. That was not going to work. Not only would we have to pay the shipping costs for sending it back to China, the girls would also have to wait another five weeks for hopefully the right tail.
The solution was quickly found: the wrong size was put on Marktplaats and a new tail was ordered via a Dutch webshop, which arrived a few days later.
Quality issues
After a few weeks of intensive use, both tails already showed problems. The material of the cheaper Chinese tail was so thin that tears appeared in several places. But the Dutch tail also started to wear out at the points, because it occasionally touched the bottom of the pool.
This tail came with loose plastic stickers that you could put over the tips as protection, but these came loose after one day.
What do you do then?
Airtracks
In several videos on TikTok, the Mermaid Sisters saw the AirTrack passing by.
A nice variation on the trampoline they often sat on, but one that you can also use indoors. Very handy in the Netherlands 🙂. The search for the right AirTrack was started. That turned out to be quite a challenge!
Several AirTracks were tested and there was a big difference in quality and price. For a good 3-meter AirTrack you quickly paid €350, while another one of €199 was already punctured after one use.
Why not just get a good AirTrack for a decent price? It was quickly decided to do it ourselves.
